Purchasing Chickens:
You can purchase 2-month-old chickens directly from our online store. Simply visit our website and click on “Shop.” In the store, choose your preferred pick-up date and select your chicken breed from the drop-down menu. If a breed is listed as “out of stock,” it means that particular breed is sold out.
Before making a purchase, please review our policies carefully, which are available on the store page, your receipt, and throughout our website.
Important Information About Pickup:
-
Mark your calendar with the pick-up date, as we do not send reminders.
-
If you wish to pick up your birds early, please call 386-208-0495 to schedule a time during the week leading up to your designated pick-up date.
-
If you place orders for birds with different pick-up dates, you will need to make separate trips to pick them up. We do not hold birds past their pick-up date due to space limitations and logistical reasons.
-
Please note that we do not release birds more than a week earlier than the scheduled pick-up date.
-
Additionally, the size difference between one-month-old and two-month-old birds is significant.
Inventory and Ordering Process:
-
When we receive our chicks, we list approximately 30% of our inventory online to fulfill pre-orders. This ensures we can accommodate all orders.
-
If we are unable to fulfill your order, we will contact you to offer an alternative breed, a different pick-up date, or a refund.
-
At about one month old, we inventory the chickens. If the numbers look good, we may add more birds to our online store as the pick-up date approaches.
Remaining Birds:
-
The day after the pre-order pick-up date, we will begin to sell any remaining birds on a first-come, first-served basis. These birds will not be held and are available only on a first-come, first-served basis.
-
A list of available breeds will be posted on our website under “Chickens on Hand” within a day or two.

Why do we begin selling chickens at 2 months old?
At 2 months old, pullets can go to their new home without the need for heat lamps or brooders but are still at a young enough age to bond easily with their new owners. They have most of their adult feathers in, though they still have a fair amount of growing to do; they are just shy of being half grown at this point, having to gain a bit more height and a lot more breadth. By 2 months old, we are almost always able to tell which birds are pullets (young hens) and which ones are roosters, so customers can know they are getting what they paid for. Chickens typically begin laying around 4.5 – 7 months of age and oftentimes will quit laying for awhile due to the stress that moving causes them. By getting them at this younger age, it allows the birds to be be relocated to their new environment without their laying cycle being interrupted in this way. And because the poultry have time to adjust to their new home before they ever start laying, their egg production is maximized. As mentioned, it is easier to bond with your new chickens at this point. They are younger, making them easier to handle, and they are still impressionable, making the bonding process quicker and easier than if you were getting a hen that is already producing eggs.
*** IMPORTANT: When picking up your new chickens from us, please be sure to bring a box/crate/etc. in which to transport your birds to their new home.
